Yesterday saw the launch of a brand new service by photographer Daniel Smith of Vibrant Pulse, confidence photography.
From research, this is the first time that this service has been tried and is at a real forefront of photography by the official photographer of Exmouth and to the Mayor.
Having a photograph taken and getting some great results can give you a huge boost to your self-confidence and already we have seen many of our customers express a great sense of accomplishment for portrait shoots.
The confidence photography however is not just about getting a great photograph. It is about having self confidence in front of a camera and a photographer and having a pysical record of the days shoot.

Thursday of this week saw a busy and very long day for Exmouth Photographer, Daniel Smith from Vibrant Pulse. Up at 3am for a photoshoot in London at a concept store of M&S and finished past 8:00pm with a photoshoot for Jenny Harvey who was the prize winner from our free raffle at the Devon County Show.
The prize was for a free photoshoot with Daniel Smith, a free photographic print and frame by Copyrite Print in Exmouth.
The shoot went really well and there were several photographs choosen by Jenny but the image choosen for the purpose of the shoot, was the one on this page of the 5 children.
The final photograph will be given to Grandma Harvey for a birthday present and we hope that she will like it as much as Jenny, Sister Kathy and the children.
A very big well done on the winning ticket!
You can find out more information and book Daniel Smith for your photo session, either in studio or out on location by clicking here.
Vibrant Pulse are very happy at the moment as we have just had 2 of our photographs of Exmouth published in the Devon Life magazine.
We were asked by the Chamber of Trade and Commerce, as the official photographer for Exmouth, to take some photographs of the Sand Sculpture competition on Exmouth beach which was part of the Exmouth Festival, these photographs were then sent to the Devon Life magazine to which 2 were choosen for publication.
They are used as part of a great article describing Exmouth and what there is to do in the town. You can get your copy in your local newsagent.
Now this is something that will be of interest to you all, some for the reason of the equipment used, some for the video itself, others for both!
The video is a promotional documentary for the Exe Estuary Cycle Trail which runs from Exmouth to Starcross, filmed in partnership for Exmouth Town Management, Exmouth Cycle Hire and our own Exe Trail website.
The video shows the story of a cyclist who goes out for the day to explore the local area, discovering all the things along the Exe Trail Cycle path.
It was filmed with our very own Canon 5D MKii which, suprisingly, is a still Digital SLR camera that has rocked the world of film massivly since it’s launch.
We hope that you enjoy the video that can be found at the Exe Trail site and Exmouth Cycle Hire website very soon.

http://www.exetrail.co.uk and http://www.exmouthcyclehire.com bring you a view of the Exe Estuary Cycle Trail in Devon.
Showing off the wonderful views of the world famous River Exe from Exmouth to Exeter then on to Starcross.
We hope you enjoy…
Well, the Devon County Show is almost a distant memory but we are pleased to say that photographic memories will live on. As the official photographers in Exmouth for the Town and Mayor, we have been so busy passing photographs onto different companies for there own promotions.
The latest users of our photography is LED Leisure and we would like to thank them for the link back to us.
Team Exmouth’s motto was “Get Inspired” and that is certainly what we did at this years Devon County Show. Tens of Thousands of visitors poured through the gates over the 3 days the show is run with many of them visiting a Exmouth away from Exmouth. Among team Exmouth lay LED Leisure, Stuart Line Cruises, Exmouth Cycle Hire and off course, Vibrant Pulse who teamed up with Copyrite Print to offer a photography and printing service over the 3 days.
Both I and David from Copyrite Print would like to make a personal thank you to the World Of Country Life, Stuart Line Cruises, Hawkridge Bird of Prey and Richard for the letting us use there exhibits for our photography and for telling the crowds about us. We would also like to say a HUGE thank you to people like Manya, Daryll, Tony, Michael, Debbie and Nigel to name just a few of the people responsible for putting on a fantastic show this year. You really have inspired many people to come and visit Exmouth and the 2 miles of Golden sand.
Vibrant Pulse would also like to offer the photography from the 3 days free of charge to all those who helped or was part of “Team Exmouth” for helping each other out.
The weather was great, the atmosphere was exciting and the people were great. We would especially like to say a Yummy thank you to Sarah from Gert Lush for the Vibrant Pulse and Copyrite Print cookies. You can see all the photographs from the event on our Exmouth website here. We hope you enjoy them and thank you again to all who took part and sunk a great deal of community spirit into the event. I for one consider it a huge success!

Taken on our cameraphone
How would you feel if I turned up to your wedding or started using in our photographic studio, our camera phone instead of our DSLR? I bet it would not be good thoughts? Well, if the predictions of Anssi Vanjoki, the Executive Vice President of Markets for Nokia come true, we will be using a cameraphone instead of our 5D Mark ii.
We think this is crazy talk however, we understand that image quality is getting better and better on camera phones but that is not the half what a DSLR is about. The functionality of a DSLR and image quality is miles ahead of cameraphones and although large and bulky, is not going to be replaced by anything else in the near future.
“There will be no need to carry around those heavy lenses,” Vanjoki said, pointing to a professional photographer taking pictures of him.
I wonder what was going through this photographers head when Vanjoki said this? Lets face it, DSLR’s are large and bulky, our 5D Mkii is one of the biggest but the image quality gained is down to what is inside. The sensor size, the quality of the lens and the physical software in the camera all go into making the possibility of a cameraphone being the preferred option somewhat a impossibilty in our opinion.
Physcally, the length size of a sensor in a cameraphone is around the 5mm size in length and about 36mm in top end DSLR’s which helps reduce the noise in images taken. We fully understand, that this sensor will be able to be smaller and smaller in future years however and noise in cameraphones will be reduced BUT there is more!

Taken with our DSLR
Software in a camera is also very important, this will allow for faster image processing which means more FPS, better colour etc etc. We also appreciate that the software will improve in camera phones with the huge number of settings available BUT will you want to trawl through miles of menu’s to change settings or will you, when the pressure is on, want the settings at hand as they are on a DSLR?
The last point we find hard to come to terms with is the Lens. Why do you think there are so many Len’s on the market? Becuase the camera companies want the money? Oh no! To get the best picture, you need the right lens for the job to give a huge range of uses and functionality for taking photographs in different situations. A lens is so important for chromatic aberration, ensures that no geometric image distortion occur at varying zoom lengths and is sooo criticle for ensuring a top, high quality photograph. Fitting all this functionailty into such a small space a cameraphone allows will have to mean a change in the laws of physics.
So, not taking into account that you can still take a really bad photograph using a DSLR if you are not using it correctly or even if your subject is not playing along with you, what do you think about the predictions that a cameraphone will replace a DSLR in the future? We find it very hard to believe.

Would love to hear your comments to here.
OK, I am a day or 2 posting this but I only just got round to it and whilst waiting for my 3pm to arrive, I thought I would post this up of some mini eggs I photographed the other day. Basically, this was just a excuse for me to get some mini eggs so I could eat them
So, what to say about them? They are small, tasty and have been edited to make them as vibrant and colourful as possible.
Keep your suggestions of things to photograph coming in as we are enjoying some of the challenges. We did find out however, that we did not get the right shot of the Aero as suggested so we will be having to redo this one at some point soon. In the mean time, anyone fancy a mini egg before I feel guilty about eating them all?
